Singh shines as Orissa Police lift Tamando Cup

Goalkeeper Singu Marandi helped Orissa Police win the Tamando Cup All-Orissa Football Tournament for the seventh time at Tamando, near Bhubaneswar today. In the closely-contested final, Marandi saved two penalty kicks to guide his team to a 4-2 win over East Coast Railways, via tie-breaker. The champion side received Rs 10,000, while the runners-up were given Rs 7,000. Sports Minister Pravin Kumar Bhanjadeo handed over the trophy and cash prizes at the closing ceremony. The tournament was organised by Shiba Shakti Club. Individual prize winners: Player of the tournament: Sanatan Nayak (Samaleswari Sporting). Player of the final: Abhimanyu Pande (Orissa Police). Best goalkeeper: Singu Marandi (Orissa Police).
